As we move deeper into 2025, custom home building continues to evolve in exciting and innovative ways. Whether it’s technology, sustainability, health and wellness, or design features, homeowners are prioritizing their personal needs and incorporating these into their builds. Here are just a few of the trends that have been shaping our year so far:
While smart home technology is nothing new, we have been seeing an increasing number of homeowners looking for technology-integrated home systems. Many of our clients have opted for more than the basic smart home features that are currently available. More are choosing control systems like Control 4, Crestron, and Savant, which gives them full home automation. With these systems, they can use their phone, iPad, or remote control to control lighting functions, whole house music systems, theatre rooms, patio screens, window screens, security systems (including cameras), and more. This gives our clients the ability to create scenes where multiple things happen with the click of one button. In addition to these systems, most of our clients are incorporating LED low-voltage lighting into their mirrors, stairs, cabinetry, and ceiling details. Clients are also incorporating biometric locks into their builds in areas like safe rooms, offices, and even entrance doors for added security.
Health-focused home designs are becoming increasingly more popular. We have been incorporating health and wellness centers in architectural design, which often include saunas, cold plunges, salt rooms, exercise rooms, prayer/meditation rooms, and hot tub rooms. In interior design selections, we are seeing clients prioritize larger windows for natural lighting, organic elements such as natural stone and earth-tone color schemes, and natural wood — all of which promote healthy mental well-being.
Backyard spaces have always been an important part of most custom home designs, but we are seeing the incorporation of larger outdoor spaces — including custom-built kitchens to typically accommodate green eggs, grills, trash pull-outs, pizza ovens, etc. The outdoor oasis is often closed in from the elements with retractable bug/sunscreens and built-in ceiling heaters, fans, and water misting systems to combat the unpredictable Texas weather. Integrated sound systems, outdoor lighting, fireplaces, custom pools with attached spas, sports courts, putting and chipping greens, and outdoor courtyards are often included in these outdoor spaces as well.

Adam built our dream home in Flower Mound, Texas, and we could not be happier. More than other builders, he understood what was important to us and made sure to tailor a solution accordingly. We loved Adam's fixed pricing model and not having to guess what our pricing would be throughout the build process for different items/labor. Most importantly, the house is stunning. Grateful. One side note: City of Flower Mound is a massive pain to work with. Absurdly slow on permits, sticklers about every little thing, and it will be extremely frustrating at times. Be aware.
